(RON) or Remote Online Notarization, refers to a process where a notary performs a notarization for a signer who is not physically present, using audio-visual technology to complete the transaction online. This allows for the remote signing and notarization of documents, making the process more convenient and accessible. The entire process is done online, with the signer and notary appearing on a live video call, using electronic signatures and digital seals.

✔️ A commissioned notary public meets with the signer via a live, two-way audio-visual call.

✔️ Both parties use electronic signatures to sign the document.

✔️ The notary verifies the signer's identity and witnesses their electronic signature, just as they would in person.

✔️The notary applies an electronic seal and digital certificate to the document, rather than a traditional ink stamp.

✔️ Convenience: Eliminates the need to travel and meet in person, saving time and effort.

✔️ Accessibility: Allows people who are not in the same physical location as the notary to get documents notarized, including those who may have difficulty traveling.

✔️ Security: Often includes additional security features like recording the entire session and detailed audit trails, which can add a layer of protection against identity theft.
